Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

LOCAL SOCCER STUD ON HIS WAY TO BIG TEN FOR HIS COLLEGE CAREER
One of the county's most versatile athletes will be taking a few hour trek down I-75 for his college playing career. Adam Gorski, a three-sport standout at Birmingham Brother Rice, has verbally committed to Ohio State University to play soccer. Gorski is a master defender that has a nose for the goal. His cornerkicks and throw-ins are top-shelf all the way and a big reason Rice has had so much success on the soccer field lately.
Earning all-state accolades and a state championship last season on the pitch, Gorski is also a starter on the Warriors football and basketball teams. In football, he is a highly-accurate placekicker and mega-long kickoff specialist. During basketball season, he is a pace-setting point guard and pesky defensive specialist that helped lead Rice to its first district title in quite some time this past winter. Last fall on the gridiron, he adapted quickly to his first time role as a football kicker and came through in several key instances that aided the team in a run to the D2 final four.
This kid is the definition of a winner and a leader on and off the field and Burney thinks there is a very good chance for him to walk away with another couple of state championship rings – his first in football and a second in soccer – before it's all said and done on his playing career for Warrior Nation.
