The Great Burnzini Returns - Regional Roundup

Picks for this week's prep boys basketball regionals
Class A
Southfield Regional
Teams: Southfield, Brother Rice, RH Adams, Pontiac
Pick: Southfield
Burney thinks the host-Bluejays have smoothed out their mid-season wrinkles and are on the prowl back to the Breslin Center for a second straight year….U CAN'T STOP the Bluejays BIG 3 of BRUNDIDGE, BARNES and ONWENU, U CAN ONLY HOPE TO CONTAIN THEM….and that's a FACT!
*SUPERSONIC UPSET SPECIAL in the semis….ADAMS goes all JUWAN HOWARD and SHOCKS THE WORLD by nipping favored Pontiac in the closing seconds
AA Pioneer Regional
Teams: OL St. Mary's, Hartland, AA Huron, Novi Detroit CC
Pick: AA Huron
Just too much firepower on this Huron team for county cage crews, St. Mary's and CC, to overcome
Bay City Western Regional
Teams: Clarkston, Flint Northwestern, Saginaw, Bay City Western
Pick: Saginaw
If this was next year, I'd be picking C-Town all the way, but this year the Sag NASTY is well, too NASTY to pick against. That said, another SWEET 16 for Coach Fife and the Wolfpack is a major accomplishment.
Class B
Imlay City Regional
Teams: Birmingham DCD, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, Marysville, Osborn
Pick: Birmingham DCD
ALL HAIL THE DEFENDING, SOON-2-B REPEAT CHAMPS!!!
Class C
MH Bishop Foley Regional
Teams: MH Bishop Foley, Detroit Consortium, Detroit Allen, Melvindale ABT
Pick: This is a bear of a draw for the host-Ventures of Bishop Foley and Burney can't see them making it to the Elite 8 alas the baseball squad last spring
Class D
Birmingham Roeper Regional
Teams: Birmingham Roeper, AH Oakland Christian, Detroit Westside Christian, SH Parkway Christian
Pick: SUPERSONIC UPSET SPECIAL: Roeper's Duriajaiye Lewis will be the best player on the court this week and lead the underdog 'Riders into their first quarterfinal ever after finishing the regular season below the .500 mark (for only the second time in coach Ernie Righetti's 27-year regime). Getting hot at the right time is everything come tourney time
