Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Some thoughts from Friday night's action on the prep gridiron;
Oxford's Prescott Line is a man playing amongst boys this season…..The future SMU Mustang had another MONSTER outing, busting loose for 252 yards, 3 TDs, including the winning score in OT of the 'Cats huge 22-16 upending of Rochester Adams on the road. He also had the game-securing forced fumble on the last play of the extra session
Was that Matt Rostec out there playing cornerback for Walled Lake Central on Friday night against Lakeland or was it NFL all-pro DB CHARLES WOODSON?..….Rostec had both an INT and a fumble recovery returned for scores in the Vikings 41-6 vanquishing of the Eagles
If Brother Rice still had Adam Gorski, the Orange and Black could easily be 6-0 right now!!! That said, Burney predicts the Rice kicking game WILL lead the team to a MAJOR LEAGUE victory in the near future!!!
Burney's main C-Town homeboy Joey Goss went all JOEY GOSS against Rochester, combining for almost 200 yards and putting a trifecta of TDs on the board in the Wolfpack's 28-0 win....JG is a TRUE GRIDIRON WARRIOR and the heart and soul of the C-Town locker room.
Congrats to TEAM THOMPSON over at Southfield-Lathrup for grabbing their first win of the year!!!! Don't look past the Chargers late in the season as they have the potential playmakers on their team to take on the role of spoiler down the stretch
DEAR GROVES FALCONS COMMUNITY – I AM NOW A FULL BELEIVER!!!!!
Chris Woolen of OLSM did his best CALVIN JOHNSON impression on Friday night, catching the game-winning 17-yd in the Eaglets 10-9 overtime downing of Brother Rice. Great Job C-Wool!!!
Madison Heights Madison freshman Juan Johnson might be the best freshman in Oakland County – second straight big game in Eagles win, rushing for 140 yards and three TDs……..ATTN; ALL FUTURE OPPONENTS 4 Madison in the MAC; BWARE of DON JUAN....this FAB FROSH is a SUPER talent toting that pigskin
