Some thoughts from Friday night's prep football action from around the OC;
If anyone spots Oxford senior running back Prescott Line in the near future, please for the love of God and all things holy pour a bucket of water over his head 'cause this kid is flat BURNING UP the gridiron every single time he steps on the field…….I.E. 296, 5 TDs in O-Town's 42-35 upset win in the Clarkston Wolfden.
Line's year-long RUNNING TOTAL; 2,094 yards, 33 TDS (his 32 rushing touchdowns is the 10th highest single-season total in state history.....and he's got at least two more games to go.....WOW!!!!
Speaking of people emanating heat, the entire Oxford Wildcats team is ON FIRE and is playing as well as any team in the entire state heading down the stretch
Outside of my O-Town homeboys, TEAM ZUBE aka the YAKTOWN FREIGHT TRAIN AKA the Pontiac Phoenix, might be the hottest team in the area!!!!!! The Phoenix have played with their backs against the wall and their playoff lives on the line for three straight weeks and have come away with three straight victories. That's some pretty GREAT COACHING and some pretty GREAT PLAYMAKING!!!!!
After shocking Southfield 13-12 on Friday night in front of their home crowd, Troy Athens & REDHAWKSNATION improved to 6-2 and will be riding the playoff wave for the first time in seven years. Burney's boy Sam "The Hawk" Haskell GOT CRAZY BUSY going for a career-high 135 yards on the ground to lead an Athens rushing attack besieged by injuries.
Red Hawks kicker Sandy Mouch – also a standout soccer star for the Athens pitch squad – might be the most undervalued placekicker in Oakland County……Yeah, I said it!!! Mouch booted two 40-yarders, including the game-winner against Southfield. I've decided to start calling him "Boomer."
Alright its official now; the entire Pontiac Notre Dame Prep gridiron gang (48-14 demolishing of Pinconning on Friday) has officially reached SWAGGER LEVEL THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND TRILLION!!!!
FH Harrison sophomore running back Lorenzo Collins is in BEAST MODE – LC busted loose for his third straight 200-yard game (220 yards, 2 TDs) in the Hawks 28-7 upending of Lake Orion.
On the subject of Burney's Harrison HOMEBOYS, junior WR Garius Coleman celebrated his impending visit up to MSU on Saturday by catching a 53-yard touchdown in the Hawks win.
COACH SCHULTZ for 2011 COACH of the YEAR!!!!! North Farmington blasts its way back into the playoffs for the first time in five years and as usual did it with a punishing rushing assault led by Jacquis Woods and Kevin Miller.
Junior QB John Dorshewitz has been looking better and better under center for the Rochester Falcons since taking over a few games back from injured starter Jack Glancy. JD and the tailback tandem of Cody Devoe….aka TIM RIGGINS (3 TDS) and James Ward aka SMASH WILLIAMS (2 TDs), took TEAM VERNON to its third win of the year on Friday against crosstown rival Stoney Creek.
I said it was a possibility at the start of the season, now its a full blown reality; WL Northern's Kirk Thomas is the best quarterback in the city of Walled Lake this year!!!! Take it 2 The Bank!!!
