In honor of the 2012 Lake Orion boys basketball team, which took an EPIC ride as the state's Cinderella into the Class A elite eight last week, let's catch up with some former Dragon Hoop Hounds and see how they are doing

Drew Maynard – During his first season at D2 Valdosta State down in Georgia after two campaigns as a starter at D1 Oakland U, Maynard found a rebirth in his playing career, averaging a more than respectable 10 points and 6 boards an outing for the Blazers. When he was in high school in the late 2000s, Maynard was a three-time all-state pick and arguably the best hoopster to ever play in the Dragons' program

Anthony Fields – Maynard's point guard at LO played in the ACC at Wake Forest this past winter, earning first-team All-Academic honors in the league, before recently deciding to transfer in search of more time on the floor. Sadly, Fields opted not to finish his career as a Dragon and transferred to Detroit Southeastern in the wake of Maynard's graduation.

Duane Graves – Is currently one of the area's top young sideline generals, coaching the BH Lahser Knights to its first district title in over a decade in only his second year on the bench this season.. As a prepster, Graves was a spunky gunner in the backcourt for the Green and White in the early-to-mid 1990s

Derek Schrauben – This former Dragons cager is a starting midfielder on the Western Michigan soccer team. Back as a senior at THE LO in 2010, Schrauben was a leader of a gritty hoop squad that came close to upsetting Clarkston in the district championship game. He could shoot and guard with the best around in the OAA in his time.  

Chris Lum – Following an All-American D2 football career quarterbacking the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, this former LO two-sport stud could find himself drafted into the NFL next month, and if not, he will almost certainly be in an NFL training camp come July. On the basketball court, Lum was a rugged, gutty and athletic forward, who hit the glass super hard, always guarded the opposing teams' top scorer and started alongside Maynard in the Dragons' frontcourt for two seasons.
