Five For Fighting – The brightest stars from the OC prep football field on Saturday
Birmingham Brother Rice Defense – Delivered a devastating effort in the Warriors 28-0 throttling of Warren De La Salle in a game where they totally dominated UofM-recruit and Pilots senior all-state quarterback Shane Morris, knocking him out of action in the second half. CAN U SAY ELECTRIC COMPANY THE SEQUEL!!!!
Nick Wallace (MH Madison) – The standout senior field general scored all four (two through the air, two on the ground) of the Eagles touchdowns, including the game-winning 17-yd connection with D'amonde Queen in the closing moments of a come-from-behind 28-26 win at home over SCS South Lake. Wallace, one of the most underrated pure dropback passers in Metro Detroit, was 14-of-21 on Saturday against an athletic South Lake D for 255 yards and two touchdowns. HARDEST QUESTION OF THE DAY: I'm having trouble deciding whether my main man Nicky Guns is better on the gridiron under center or on the basketball court in the post racking up double-doubles……What do you think?
Brian Walker (Birmingham Brother Rice) – The WIZARD of WARRIORLAND spun his usual brand of gridiron magic against De La Salle, rushing for 165 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries
Mitch Lasceski (Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes) – Mitch the MAULER as I like to call him, scored a touchdown on a reception and a run (showing why he's one of the area's top wingbacks) in leading the Lakers to an exciting 24-21 win over rival Royal Oak Shrine
Spencer Howell (Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes) – His 30 yard field goal in the first half proved the difference on the scoreboard against Shrine, giving TEAM BOYD a pair of ace placekickers in Howell and Jake Doetsch (also finding the end zone on a run on Saturday), who booted home a game-winning field goal in the first round of the playoffs back in 2009 as a freshman. FEAR THE FOOT in LAKERLAND!!!
