The 2012 Birmingham Seaholm football squad is sporting a STRAIGHT UP MENACE of a defense, as the Maples seek program's first league title in seven years.
Led by first-year head coach Jim DeWald, a defensive specialist of a sideline general, Seaholm is 5-1 as it enters its OAA Blue first-place clash with Bloomfield Hills Lahser on Friday.
The Maples 'defense has already spun a pair of shutouts and is averaging giving up less than two touchdowns per game.
Tough-as-nails to the core, DeWald was a star on defense in college at Western Michigan in the mid-to-late 1990s. His current Seaholm team plays with the fire, passion and intensity of its coach, especially it's 'D.'
Alright, let's breakout the MAPLES GRID ROLL CALL……'D'-style as in DEFENSE as in DEWALD
Up front, we've got junior defensive end Karl Marback, a terror to quarterbacks everywhere and having one of the best seasons in the area in the trenches. Fellow BIG BALLER quarterback-gobblers like Zach Granett and Joshua Smith flank Marback the MAGNIFICENT up front and then we get to the ROUGH, RUGGED, and RAW linebacker unit, spearheaded by Danny Simon and Chris Hill.
We haven't even gotten to the Seaholm SIZZLING secondary yet. WOW, these guys pack a MEGA punch in every way possible! Yeah, I'm talking to you Dylan Kanaan, Andrew Barton, Aaron Ware, Austin Park, Jack Mentag & crew!!!
Kanaan and Barton make up the most devastating pair of safety's in the Blue, maybe the entire OAA period!! Ware is BLOWING UP Deion Sanders-style and establishing himself as one of the best lockdown corners in the area, not to mention one of it's top return threats.
All Burney can say is……MAD PROPS!!!!
