Darius Danzy will be moving North next year.
The Southfield High School senior football star committed to Northern Michigan over the weekend.
Danzy plays in the secondary and is a lockdown cornerback.
This past fall was Danzy's lone season with the Bluejays, after transferring into the district last winter from Orchard Lake St. Mary's; and he made the most of it, quickly establishing himself as one of the top defensive backs in the OAA, reeling off a slew of big-play interceptions and pass deflections during his squad's 2012 playoff campaign.
His first cousin Justin played at Southfield from 2009-2011, quarterbacking the 'Jays to a pair of district championships in his time under center, and is now playing at Kalamazoo College.
Southfield's Class of 2013 on the gridiron is another mighty talented one for head coach Tim Conley, boasting over a half-dozen players that will be playing at the next level. Danzy's classmates and teammates Brandon Bean (WR), Tre Walton (TE) and Jeff Madison (LB) all committed to Grand Valley State earlier this month. Collin Buchanan, the Bluejays' road-grader on the offensive line, committed to Miami (OH) late last month and middle linebacker and team co-captain Willie Duncan will be committing somewhere soon.
Northern Michigan went 4-7 this year.
