Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Walled Lake Western senior football star Josh Jones has re-opened his college recruiting.
On Thursday, Jones, a fast, strong, and athletic 6-foot-2, 215-pound safety, de-committed from the University of Illinois.
Sources say he is now deciding between North Carolina State of the ACC, Pitt of the Big East and Colorado of the Big 12.
This is Jones' second de-commitment during his recruiting process. He de-committed from Toledo last spring before pledging his allegiance to the Fighting Illini.
As a junior, Jones helped navigate Walled Lake Western on a trip into the final four. Back in the fall during his senior campaign, he led them to a second straight district championship.
Jones, who runs a 4.4 40-yard dash, is also a dangerous return specialist, upping his value even further on the DI recruiting scene.
