Save The Date

The annual Prep Football Kickoff Classic has another slate of MEGA MATCH-UPS involving OC gridiron squads on tap this year.
Here's what we got going down on August 30 down at Wayne State's Adams Field.
Perennial are stalwart Southfield starts things off with a throwdown with national juggernaut Detroit Cass Tech and two-time defending state champion Birmingham Brother Rice will conclude the event locking horns with Ohio powerhouse Cleveland St. Ignatius.
Like Brother Rice, Cass Tech is a two-time defending state crown-holder.
Upwards of three dozen college recruits will be on hand just for these two games alone.
Brother Rice's three-peat effort will be led by junior quarterback Alex Malzone and his wide fleet of dangerous pass-catchers (Corey Lacanaria, Josh Flye, Grant Perry, Delano Madison, etc) and the superstar backfield of seniors Brian Walker and Shon Powell.
Cass Tech is spearheaded by the likes of junior field general Jay'Ru Campbell, one of the most sought-after prep signal-callers in the country and fellow junior uber-recruits Mike Webber (RB) and Josh Alabi (DE)
Defensive lineman Lawrence Marshall, linebacker Jordan Cry and quarterback Jalen Brady highlight Southfield's on-field assault. Marshall is Oakland County's top college recruit. Cry is a three-year starter on defense for the 'Jays and Brady is a high-profile transfer from Grand Ledge, who is getting a number looks from Division I college scouts.
In last year's Kickoff Classic – an event unfortunately marred by fan-on-fan violence in the stands – Southfield won a dramatic overtime affair against Detroit King and Brother Rice lost to Cass Tech.
