Not So Fast

Let's set the record straight.
Local blue-chip prep football recruit Malik McDowell is not at Southfield.
Yet.
Despite rampant rumors circulating this week that McDowell, the sick-talented defensive end who played at Detroit Loyola the past three years, has transferred into Oakland County and is officially at Southfield for his senior season on the high school gridiron, he hasn't and he isn't. Nothing's official.
He probably will be there soon, but it isn't in stone as of now.
McDowell (6-foot-7, 305 pounds) has 28 combined quarterback sacks over the last two seasons and him and his family have made it known that they plan to move to Southfield this summer, so the pass-rushing menace can be a Bluejay in 2013.
The consensus among national scouting experts is that McDowell is the No. 1 college recruit in the state on defense. He has more than two dozen scholarship offers from some of the country's most elite programs (Alabama, Florida, USC, etc…)
If and when he does land in CONLEYVILLE (aka Southfield HS), Big MAC will join forces with fellow D1 recruits on the defensive line in Lawrence Marshall (Michigan), another blue-chipper in the trenches and Chris Williams, just starting to reel in the scouts with his ability to get the job done at the point of attack.
Southfield will be one of the best teams in the state this fall. In 2012, McDowell led Loyola to a Catholic League C-D title and a spot in the Division 7 state championship game.
