Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Don't look past Birmingham Groves' boys hoops squad this winter.
The Falcons might only be 2-10, but they have three players that can all bring the noise and inflict serious pain on the opposition.
I'm talking about in seniors Eddie Reese and Charles Jeffries and junior Lamar Taylor.
Reese is a genuine "Supersonic Sleeper Special," a smooth 6-foot-2 combo guard that can hit from deep and break you off taking it to the rack or when running the floor in the transition game. An athletic lefty, he could be the best player you don't know about.
Jeffries is an inside-outside terror that is slowly coming into his own. He dropped a 25-point, 10-board double-double Monday night in a win over Berkley.
Taylor is a force in the paint, long and active.
This might be the No. 1 2-10 club in the area. I know that doesn't say much, but watch out for TEAM SHECKELL to be a darkhorse to be reckoned with come March.
