Some names Burney is throwing out there to discuss as possible candidates for the vacant Oak Park boys basketball coaching job:
Al Kattola – former OP varsity coach, longtime freshman/JV coach, passionate, love and knowledge of the gane, deep ties in the Knights community
Bobby Thompson – former Academy of Oak Park & River Rouge head coach, works in the district, cool, rock-solid track record,
Mike Avery – former Southfield-Lathrup head coach, fierce competitor, tactician with a clipboard in his hands
Durand Shepherd – former Detroit DePorres and Inkster head coach, close ties to OP AD Greg Carter, excellent resume, master motivator
Tom Staton – former Ferndale head coach and hoop legend, been out of the coach's seat for a few years, might want back in
How can eather one of these coaches be considered for the job , when according to what I heard none of them apply for the job , nor interview for the coaching position ? Was informed that the job was down to two people one they called coach GEE from Bloomfield and the other was a coach Wilson from Canada. Sometimes don't smell right
