Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Solid As Oak
There's a new era in Oak Park boys basketball about to start. Earlier this week, the Knights hired Jamie Thomas to head the school's ship on the hardwood. Thomas is the definition of a high-energy, high-character tactician on the bench and the former WL Central girls coach and assistant for West Bloomfield's girls and boys cage program as well as for the LakeShow's football program. This is a super hire and just the kind of stability the Knights need on the court right now. In his athletic heyday Thomas was a force to be reckoned with in both basketball and football, earning varsity letters in college in each sport at Western Kentucky and Kentucky Wesleyan.
