Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Novi No No

Burney has to give out mad apologies to my boys over at Novi, especially my main homeboys Samier "The Big Sham Wow" Ozier, Jeremy Mims, Brandon Rydzewski and Justin Hopton , for messing up some facts about the Wildcats' monster hoops season so far on a recent mention here on Burney's Bytes. In a blog entry last week titled, "Cat-Nipped," I wrote that Novi had lost both games it has played this year to Livonia Stevenson. This was as wrong as wrong can be. The Wildcats defeated the Spartans by 16 in their first meeting of the season back in January – contrary to what I reported – before dropping a close one to Stevenson, 56-49 last Tuesday night on the road. Novi is 12-3 overall and 8-3 in the KLAA Central and will hit the court again on Friday when the cagey 'Cats visit Plymouth High School.
