The Great Burnzini - Thirsty Thursday

OC Top Games – Thursday (WEEK 2)
After Week 1 record: 12-4
Picks
Birmingham Groves v. North Farmington – New RB Jalen Spicer continues to spice it up for the Falcons offense, going for another 125 yards on the ground and this time he adds two TDs. Groves goes to 2-0 and FALCONS NATION rejoices in the streets of Downtown Birmingham!
Groves 28, NF 10
Royal Oak v. Troy – Coach Griff always impresses me with his coaching ability and 2010 is no exception. Burney thought the Colts would be down this season, however after Thursday night, they will without a doubt be perfect after the first two weeks of the schedule. Get super busy my main man James McDonald!!!
Troy 30 RO 12
BH Andover v. Birmingham Seaholm – Maples mow down the Barons and like crosstown rival Groves, push their record to 2-0 on the young season on the rebound off a less than stellar showing in 2009. Junior field general John Glazier lights the scoreboard up like a pinball machine, throwing for 250 yards and accounting for 4 TDs (3 in air, 1 on ground).
Seaholm 31, Andover 14
AH Avondale v. Hazel Park – Slow start doomed Avondale in Week 1 and the Yellowjacekts need to play with more urgency in the first half against Hazel Park. The Vikings are coming off a blowout defeat of BH Andover last week (HP's 'O puts a '55' spot on Barons 'D) in which they appeared in mid-season form already. 'Jackets need this win bad and senior studs Ray Tillman and Tony Harris get it for them! Can you say shootout?
Avondale 36, Hazel Park 31
Plymouth Salem v. WL Central – Central gets back on victory road, breaking a 3-gm losing streak dating back to last season, behind a 3 TD outing from junior RB K.J. Schulz and a 2 score outing from fellow junior and starting QB Zach Leimbach
WL Central 34 Salem 20
Marine City v. MH Madison – Ultra-tough game for Madison in week 2, good thing it will be going down in the Eagles own house. Yet, Burney still doesn't know if the home field advantage can save all-everything RB/CB Valdez Showers and his Madison squad against powerhouse Marine City.
Marine City 27 Madison 21
Ferndale v. BH Lahser – Don't sleep on Knights six-shooter specialist of a QB, Bobby Brandon, who looked sharp in week 1 loss at Groves and who Burney thinks will be a major force to be reckoned with in the OAA this season. Head Coach Ryan Dunlap's Eagles bring speed and a winners-mentality into the game and should test Brandon (as well as top target Luke Dauch) Ferndale matches up well with host-Lahser and it should be a hotly-contest battle. I expect his one should go down to the wire, so Burney is going with the home team!
Lahser 22, Ferndale 19 (OT)
Warren Fitzgerald v. MH Lamphere – The Rams Jerry Connor proved in team;s WEEK 1 victory that he is a solid No. 2 option for qb Ryan Horvath in Lamphere's high-octane passing attack. Jackson Lewis is the BEST defensive player in the county that you probably don't know about and Mitch Kozlowski is, well, Mitch Kozlowski. Look for junior TE/DE Mike Middelton to have a big game against Fitz in a Rams win
Lamphere 33, Fitzgerald 23
South Lyon East v. WL Northern – QB Patrick Powers and a strong senior class will lead SLE to respectability in only its fourth season of varsity ball in 2010! Burney says, TAKE IT 2 THE BANK! 1-0 for the first time in school history, the Cougars will face a big test on the road in Week 2 at WL Northern. Result: EASTSIDERS pass with FLYING COLORS!
SLE 17, WL Northern 16 (OT)
Berkley v. Charlotte – Star running back Terrell Porter couldn't do what he does without the help of Bears star offensive lineman Kyle Foreman. Porter and Foreman continue to punish the comp and Coach Mac's Berkley squad takes it to Charlotte on the road. What a super job coach Jim MacDougal is doing in Bear Country the past few seasons. No reason his team shouldnt play its way to a second straight playoff appearance this fall. Can you say district title?
Berkley 28 Charlotte 25
