Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

The Great Burnzini - Week 6 Picks

OC Top Games – Week 6
Orchard Lake St. Mary's v. Birmingham Brother Rice This game will without a doubt go down to the wire and although I loved the Warriors at the start of the year, they've taken too long to get their engine running and a win over St. Mary's might be just a little too tall of an order to keep their playoff hopes from flatlining
OLSM 28, Rice 21 (OT)
Rochester v. Clarkston – The magic continues, FALCOND WIN AGAIN!!!
Rochester 23, Clarkston 20 (OT)
Troy v. Lake Orion – Let's just start calling the Dragons Marques Stevenson, Danny Ney and Zach Zott, Michael Cera, Jonah Hill and McLovin, because they are so SUPERBAD!! Transfer Alex Fine has looked excellent taking over safety duties from the departed Vinnie Booker.
LO 37, Troy 18
Novi Detroit CC v. UofD-Jesuit – You can't stop the CC defense and you can't really even hope to contain them, so I suggest the host Cubbie Bears get ready to take a beating!
CC 36, UofD 3
Birmingham Seaholm v. Hazel Park – Seaholm is banged up and after back-to-back losses are in jeopardy of losing a grip on its season. The Vikings are coming off a loss and aren't the most healthy team either. Despite the adversity, I still have faith in Coach Fahr and the Maples. Led by junior gunslinger John Glazier, Seaholm sneaks one out on the road and gets things back on track
Seaholm 31, Hazel Park 28
Rochester Hills Adams v. Oxford – To take a gem from my boy Kozmo, the toughest thing about this game for Adams will be the bus ride north to Oxford's beautiful stadium
Adams 35, Oxford 17
Southfield v. Farmington – Hate to say it, but Friday night Matt Craven, Jason Wilson, Dae'von Scarber and the rest of the Falcons will play the role of electricians and turn the lights turned off on the Southfield Blue Jays season…..boo hoo!!
Farmington 27, Southfield 20
Auburn Hills Avondale v. Birmingham Groves – Expect Mitch Robinson to go all MITCH ROBINSON, Ray Tillman to go all RAY TILLMAN and Tony Harris to go all TONY HARRIS allowing the Yellow Jackets to go all YELLOW JACKETS and win their fourth straight
Avondale 46, Groves 26
Pontiac v. Royal Oak – The Phoenix find their way back into the win column behind the arm of Jonathon Steed, the legs of "Ant" Adams and the hands of Patrick Johnson and Reggie Washington!!
Pontiac 42, RO 15
FH Harrison v. Oak Park – Herrington's Hawks have been playing OFF THE CHAIN this entire season and although I love me some Mario Evans, the Knights are about to get dusted!!
Harrison 41, Oak Park 18
