Former Oakland County prep basketball star Kallante Miller is back in the saddle, playing hoops once again and getting his life back together.

The 2009 graduate of Oak Park High School had earned a scholarship to play at Central Michigan, before having his full-ride revoked when he got himself in legal trouble in the final few months of his senior year.

An athletic and rangy 6-foot-5 wing on the hardwood, Miller recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Columbus State (OH) next season.

Burney for one is thrilled that Kallante is getting another shot at playing college basketball. This kid was one of the most explosive prep cage studs I've ever watched compete, a natural scorer and finisher with a relentless attitude in battle. Talent is obviously not an issue with him.

As a youngster, he made some bad decisions. He paid for them greatly, too, having his dream of playing college basketball ripped from his grasp.

Hopefully, that is all in the past. It looks as if he has overcome his struggles and is ready to reapply himself on and off the court. That is a scary thought for his pending competition and makes Burney very happy.

When he was a junior in high school in 2008, Miller averaged 22 points, seven rebounds and three steals per game for an Oak Park squad that took home both conference and district championships. During his senior campaign, he averaged 24 points, eight rebounds and four steals per game, while missing more than a quarter of the season due to disciplinary problems on a team that opened the year ranked in the state's Top 10 and ended it several games below the .500 mark.

Once down in Ohio, Miller will join a roster at Columbus State that already includes former county cage standouts Dimitrius Abner (Oak Park Academy), Kendrick Ward (Oak Park Academy) and Kenny Harper (Oak Park).
