Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

OC Top 10
1 Birmingham DCD – 'Jackets assistant coach Rick Palmer would be one of my first targets if I was a local AD looking for a new sideline general on the basketball court for the 2013 campaign….My boy RP has all the tools to be the next GREAT head coach in the Metro Detroit prep hoop ranks
2 Clarkston – I like me some under-the-radar Wolfpack role players like Dylan Hancock, Chance Huth, Nick Owens, Mark Tynan, etc!!!! They can all get SUPER BUSY off the bench for TEAM FIFE!!
3 Rochester – It's a FALCONS WORLD, we're all just living in it!!!
4 Novi Detroit CC – ALL HAIL THE CHSL CHAMPS!!!!! Team DYER is the BOMB!!!!
5 North Farmington – TEAM LITTLE NOGO has taken its game up a notch the second half of the season and Burney thinks the trend will continue into the state tournament….TAKE IT 2 THE BANK!!
6 (tie) Troy – You can't stop Colts guards Joe Leonard and Larry Sylvester from 3-point land, you can only hope to contain this tandem of elite PRIMETIME GUNNERS!!!
6 (tie) MH Bishop Foley – ALL HAIL THE CHSL CHAMPS!!!!!! Team WEST is the BEST!!!!
7 MH Madison – Man, do the Eagles have a lot of two-sport STUDMUFFINS.....yeah, i'm talking to u DJ Larkins, Nick Wallace, Tevin Washington, Willie Bradley, Denel Manning, etc..!!!
8 Southfield-Lathrup – Don't overlook the Chargers heading into districts next week….not as hot as they were earlier in the campaign, but still wouldn't want to face them in the tourney
9 Pontiac – Mark Hoover has been getting into a groove lately for the PURPLE PEOPLE EATERS!!
10 Southfield Christian – Back in Burney's rankings just in time for MARCH MADNESS….TEAM BAKER has a great draw in the state tourney and could be talking BRESLIN in a few weeks
