Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Five For Fighting - Keeping It Real

Five For Fighting – Best performances on the prep boys hardwood from Tuesday night
1 Jalen Thomas (MH Lamphere) – Thomas dropped a career-high 30 points and led a massive Rams comeback effort from 16 down in the second half of a 61-58 defeat of St. Clair Shores Lake Shore…..No doubt, surprise story of the evening!!!
2 Yante Maten (BH Lahser) – The Knights fast developing sophomore post stud had a SUPREME outing of 26 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks in Lahser's 54-48 burying of Birmingham Groves…..this kid is like a prep version of Keith Benson and he's only in 10th grade!!!
3 Jacob Dotson (Ferndale) – Chalking up another double-double of 21 points and 13 boards in the Eagles win over Rochester Adams, Dotson has been the transfer to make the biggest impact on his team in the area….who needs a European big fella when you can get this Tennessee treat instead?
4 Brandon Wallace (Milford) – This Mavs two-sport SUPERSTAR nailed a game-winner at the buzzer to send M-Town to a 36-34 triumph against Howell…..WALLACE is a PURE WARRIOR on the hardwood and the gridiron and TEAM LUTZ continues to impress!!
5 Jared Plawski (Holly) – The Bronchos two-sport SUPERSTAR put in a game-winner at the buzzer as well to lift Holly to a 49-47 clipping of Clio in the friendly confines of the ever-frenzied Horseshoe.....Can't decide whether I'd rather have my man JP holding things down for me on the basketball court or the football field.....dude's tough as nails on both!!!

they seem to have tried to do some funny stuff at western and it doesn't seem to have worked out. they're the 3rd best team in walled lake!!
