Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

The Diamond Diaper Dandy Dirty Dozen

Youth is being served quite grandly on the high school baseball diamond in Oakland County these days with an overflowing stable of young talented underclassmen ready to take the local prep scene by storm the next couple of months.
Here's Burney's BEST of the BEST;
The 2012 DIAMOND DIAPER DANDY DIRTY DOZEN (The 12 best underclassmen in the OC)
1 Matt Ruppenthal (Birmingham Brother Rice Soph) – Most dangerous arm in the county regardless of age…he's got velocity, control and overwhelming composure on the mound for such a youngster
2 Brad Schaenzer (Lake Orion Soph) – Great arm, great bat, great bloodline……'NUFF SAID!!!
3 Garrett Schilling (MH Bishop Foley Soph) – This kid has such a clutch stick it's ridiculous!!!!
4 Devin Rose (OL St. Mary's Soph) – Might wind up being the best centerfielder in the Catholic League before its all said and done on the 2012 season!!!!! Can u say INSANE UPSIDE?
5 Freddy Jehle (Birmingham Brother Rice Soph) – Just SO SO STEADY, whether on the mound, at the plate or in the field at short!!!

7 Brad Baldwin-Austin Lukaschewski (MH Bishop Foley Soph) – ROCK SOLID is the best way to describe this 10th grade tandem for the Ventures!!!
8 Connor Bowers (Birmingham Seaholm Soph) – With his team's pitching staff besieged by injuries, Bowers will be relied on heavily on the mound for the Maples this spring
9 Perry Klemanski (BH Andover FR) – "Mini Gabe Berman"……yeah, I said it!!!! Big things in the future for this Barons' DIAPER DANDY
10 Kyle Harris (Novi Franklin Road Christian FR) – Ready to take the MIAC by storm, has a very strong shot at making all-league first team as only a frosh
11 Max Harper (Rochester FR) – Shows outstanding promise with his glove and with the lumber
12 Ross Heiman (Lakeland Soph) – Will carry on the family name for the Eagles athletic department these next few years…..just like his big bro, Blake, this young gun is a triple threat and can pitch, field and hit with ferocity!!!
