Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

The Birmingham Detroit Country Day boys basketball team features an undersized starting frontcourt that is all heart and grit-laced determination.
The Yellowjackets starting power forward is 6-foot-3 Maurice Ways and their starting center is 6-foot-3 ½ Christian Wright.
Together, they are nothing short of fantastic, playing well above their actually sizes and an example of how far pure attitude and work ethic can take you in any given endeavor.
You can pretty much guarantee a double-double from at least one, if not both of them every time DCD hits the floor. They compete at 110% every minute of action. To them, the idea of taking possessions off is a foreign concept. Whether on offense or defense, they GO HARD and are IN-YOUR-FACE no matter what the circumstance.
These guys set the perfect example. Their dogged contributions are major reasons why the KEENER KAGE KREW is undefeated, currently sitting at 8-0.
Last year as reserves, the pair helped the 'Jackets make their third straight appearance in the Class B final four.
Ways is a D1 recruit on the football field as a wide receiver. He notched his second double-double in a row on Thursday in DCD's 91-57 smashing of Southfield Christian, scoring 12 points and snatching 10 boards.
1 Comments:
DCD does a great job sharing the ball - SCS should learn from the thrashing they took.
