Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

At one point in time, not so long ago, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes' two-sport SUPERSTAR, Garrett Ross, thought his future was in basketball.
Now, he knows it's on the gridiron.
Over the weekend, Ross (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) committed to play football in college at Michigan Tech.
As a prepster, Ross was an all-league pick at tight end, leading the Lakers to a district title back in the fall. Once at the college level, he will play linebacker.
On the basketball floor, THE G-MAN is a high-scoring forward who has been tickling the twine for LAKERSNATION the past three seasons, earning all-league honors in each.
Success in the athletic arena is no stranger to Ross's family. His mother is Michelle Ross Robak, as in THE ROBAKS, the undisputed first family of sports in the city of Waterford – Yeah, those ROBAKS!! So, it's really no surprise that this kid is a genuine PTP'er in every sense of the term.
Ross' commitment is the fourth snatched by Michigan Tech in the last two weeks, coming on the heels of Holly's Johnny Williams (athlete) and Evin Papuga (athlete) and Birmingham Brother Rice's Kyle Bindi (DL)committing to the Huskies in late January.
Michigan Tech finished 7-3 in 2012 under seventh-year coach Tom Kearly.
