Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Walled Lake Northern senior boys basketball star Gage Throgmorton has shot to the next level.
It's appropriate, isn't it?
Throgmorton, a 6-foot-7 small forward and one of the area's top 3-point assassins the past three years, signed a letter of intent to play his college ball at University of Michigan-Dearborn this past, the day following the Knights ended their season in the district semifinals in a loss to North Farmington.
This season Throgmorton went all KEVIN LOVE on the boards, hitting the glass with reckless abandon to add another dimension to his already-sound game.
He averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per contest during his senior campaign in 2013.
Just because Gage is leaving the Northern hoops program, doesn't mean that the Throgmorton name is, too.
Tabin Throgmorton, Gage's little brother, was the Knights 6-foot-4 fab frosh point guard this winter, earning rave reviews for his super-steady play.
UofM-Dearborn went 7-23 this year, featuring four former OC prep studs on its roster; Julius Porter (Clarkston), Eric Murphy (Southfield Bradford), Michael Parker (Southfield Christian) and Danny O' Donahue (Novi Detroit CC).
*UofM-Dearborn sophomore floor general Jordan Konior lives in Oakland County, however prepped in Wayne County at UofD-Jesuit.
