Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Some serious shout outs are in order for head coach Tom Risi and his Lake Orion boys basketball team.
Just a week ago, it was as bad as it could have gotten for TEAM RISI.
The Dragons were mired in a losing streak, jostled out of first place in their league and looking like they were inches away from seeing their season go off the proverbial cliff.
But head coach Tom Risi righted the ship in the most-dire of situations and the LO Baller Brigade has come out smelling like roses.
The result – a share of an OAA Blue championship.
Following getting blown out by Birmingham Seaholm late last month, the wounds were raw and out there for everyone present to witness.
In a matter of a few days, though, Risi's troops had flipped the script, concluding the regular season by putting together back-to-back convincing wins over Berkley and Farmington to claim some more hardware.
Just add that OAA Blue trophy to the Class A district and regional crowns Risi took the Dragons to last March.
"LO is TITLE TOWN AGAIN" ROLL CALL; Chaz Miller, John McCarty, David Henry, Damonte Kruse, Roman Kuster, Nate Marcum, Jimmy Budreaux, Jack Falter, Tyler Martola, Zach Greene, etc..

Interesting shout out to Risi and the LO ball brigade, but I think now it can be summed up in 5 words. One and done. They gone.
