I'm talking about the Farmington Hills Mercy Marlins softball squad this spring that is smashing long balls like crazy and shattering state-records in the process.

A week removed from claiming the program's first Catholic League championship in a decade, the Marlins won a second straight district title Saturday and blasted out five home runs while doing so, one of them launched by sophomore MEGA slugger Alex Sobczac, the newly-anointed OC POWER QUEEN.

With the aforementioned efforts, Mercy extended its state-record homer rampage to 51 dingers on the campaign and Sobczac tied the all-time single season state mark for round-trippers on the softball diamond with her 18th^th trot around the bases. The prior record was held for the past 34 years by Melinda Van Gills of Pentwater (1979).

The MIGGIE-MANNY-type power surge known as the 2013 Marlins' fearsome offense will continue in the regionals next week.
