Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Ice Man Cometh

I foresee a huge season on the gridiron for Oxford junior quarterback Glacier Wallington.
About to enter his third year running the Wildcats offense, TEAM ROWLEY's 'ICEMAN' is a multi-talented double-threat under center like few others in the area.
He's got an accurate arm that can thread a needle and possesses a satiny touch on his throws, whether mid-range or down field.
If you overplay the pass, Wallington will easily torch opposing defenses with his wheels, demonstrating an elusive running style when toting the rock on the option or via a scramble from the pocket.
Smart as a whip in the huddle and in the heat of battle reading the 'D', the experience factor bodes in his favor as well. Wallington has quarterbacked O-Town into the playoffs as both a fab frosh and sophomore and is looking towards making these next two years two of the best in Wildcats pigskin history.
I think he can do it!
