Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Call Him Mr. Big Play

Detroit Pistons all-time great Chauncey Billups might be Mr. Big Shot, but here on the gridiron in Oakland County we have Mr. Big Play better known as North Farmington's Chauncey Bridges.
All this kid does is make BIG PLAYS!!!
The Raiders tailback is the area's leading rusher with 785 yards and nine touchdowns.
He's already gone over the 200-yard mark twice in a mere four games for a North Farmington club that is 3-1.
Last week in the Raiders 42-15 trucking of Ferndale, Bridges busted loose for 226 yards and five touchdowns. One of his scores came on an interception he took back to the house for a Pick-6.
That's where his true value kicks in.
For college ball, Mr. Big Play has the ability to do considerable destruction all over the field, whether at running back, defensive back or on special teams as a blazing-fast and instinctive return man.
Coaches and scouts at the next level; take it from Burney, this guy is a SUPERSONIC STEAL. The upside for what he could be doing the next few seasons at a D1 program is LIMITLESS.
Bridges' straight brilliance has single-handedly put North Farmington in the hunt for its second playoff appearance in three years. As a stud sophomore, he started in the secondary for the Raiders' 2011 7-2 squad.
Every time North Farmington steps on the field it has a legitimate chance at winning because of what Bridges does. Frankly, if he wasn't on the team, the Raiders would struggle to find victories. That's the type of game-changing difference-maker this BALLER&SHOT CALLER is.
If you appreciate greatness and like to see electrifying feats on the football field, run, don't walk, out to RAIDERVILLE on the corner of 13 and Farmington Rd. sometime in the next month and take a look at the OC's Mr. Big Play going all ADRIAN PETERSON in the NF Brown and Gold.
