Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Relocation Express Keeps Rolling

A pair of transfers on the prep boys basketball court dotted the end of the month of January in Oakland County.
Isaiah Green, one of the area's best fellas, made the move from Southfield to Waterford Kettering and Mason Vires, an expert marksman from downtown, left Clarkston and reemerged at Oxford.
Both are juniors and won't be eligible until the 2014-2015 campaign at their respective new schools.
Green is a 6-foot-8 post prowler with a velvety touch and a nice set of improving moves around the basket. He had been on Southfield's varsity squad since he was a fab frosh on the 'Jays' 2012 Class A district-title club.
Vires is a natural shooter who has gone off for double-digit triples in more than one summer game, but struggled to find consistent minutes with the Wolves.
