Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Rumors out of the three-time defending state-championship Birmingham Brother Rice football program is that new head coach Dave Sofran might be shaking some things up on defense. Sofran might be employing a 4-4 scheme this fall, replacing the standard Orange&Black 4-3 as he takes the reins and tries to lead WARRIORSNATION to a fourth consecutive D2 state crown. With sackmaster and senior-to-be Jack Dunaway and running buddies like Sean Kubit Miller, Brad Royer & Octavieous Miles set to anchor the line, workhorse soon-to-be seniors Joey Lewandowski & Marc Miller and juggernaut junior-to-be Riley Maher (the only sophomore starter on the 2013 squad) sparking the linebacking corps, and high-level D1 recruit Grant Perry holding things down in the secondary, this could be a lethal look. Burney's excited to see how it will all play out come August. TEAM SOFRAN LIVES!!!
