Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Training Camp Report - North Farmington

The Raiders are ready to jam. As in TEAM NOGO should be sponsored by Smuckers on the hardwood this winter.
North Farmington brings back basically its entire lineup from last year's 14-7 boys hoops squad.
Here's a watch list for 2015
Jeron (Buddha) Rogers – Silky smooth '3' with ALL THE RIGHT small forward in the state, scintillating mix of power and precision, whether in the half-court set, on the glass, or on the break
Anthony Qasawa – Might be the most underrated perimeter player in the OAA, just a workhorse with a soft touch and a crafty skill set
Jacob Joubert – BREAKOUT SPECIAL!! This will be 'JJ's' coming out party….has grown into his body, bigger, stronger, faster, smarter…..will be a force at a combo guard
Alex Darden – D1 baseball recruit (Cincinnati) with a banger's mentality in the post but the finesse game to knock down the jumper
Evan McMurray – E-MACK is a straight gamer and a STRAIGHT G, on and off the court, long and active on the wing, ties together a lot of loose ends coming off the pine
Daion Jennings – Burly and high-energy on the block, enforcer-type…think a prep version of Old School Ricky Mahorn (Bad Boys '89)
Josh (Baby Hoags) Hogans – Great bloodline, fast-improving skill-set at the point, outstanding natural instinct for the positon, players much bigger than his size
Maher ("Lefty") Tcholakian – RAIDERSNATION Sir Grind-A-Lot Special Pt. 1….'Nuff said!!
Sassoon ("Righty") Tcholakian – RAIDERSNATION Sir Grind-A-Lot Special Pt 2…'Nuff Said!!
Kyle Penny – RaidersNation Sir-Grind-A-Lot Special Pt. 3…'Nuff said!!
