Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

OC All-Decade – Wide Receiver
1 Agim Shabaj (FH Harrison) – Prolific pass catcher for the Hawks at the beginning of the decade who won back-to-back state titles snaring balls thrown by future MSU teammate Drew Stanton. Shabaj was an all-around threat on the gridiron, lining up at several key offensive positions in his tenure at Harrison, including QB, RB and DB. He caught an eye-popping 60 balls for 1400 yards and a state record 18 TD's in his senior year in 2001. Started off like gangbusters as a freshman in East Lansing, before off the field issues sidelined his collegiate career.
2 Adrian Cannon (AH Avondale) – Big and fast split end for the Yelllowjackets who dominated the comp in high school ('05 grad) and is now a two-year starter in the ACC with the Maryland Terrapins
3 Dionte Allen (OL St. Mary's) – Shifty double threat (WR/DB) for the Eaglets that was a two-time all-state selection and three-sport star for OLSM ('07 grad). Allen could be a starter at cornerback this fall with the Florida State Seminoles
4 Cody Wilson (RH Adams) – The best slot receiver I've seen over the last decade with his blazing speed, super-sticky hands and instinctive playmaking ability for head coach Tony Partrito and the Highlanders. Wilson caught 24 TD's as a prepster at Adams ('09 grad) as a three-year starter and is now set to be a starter at Central Michigan this fall as a sophomore.
5 Ryan Allison (Lake Orion) – possibly the best wide receiver to play at Lake Orion. Suited up at Michigan State (05-08) where he eventually moved to the linebacker spot. His brother Roger played fullback at Michigan and his dad lettered at Michigan Tech in the early-80s
