Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Second Half Studs

Here's a list of prep boys basketball players that are all having a great second half to the season
William Bradley (MH Madison) – This junior point guard has really come into his own lately, developing into one of the county's better floor generals
Marcus Hardy (Clarkston) – His recent performance down low for Coach Fife and the C-Town ballers could be the difference between a district title and a regional title
Joshua Brown (Southfield) – This athletic and ultra-active Bluejays swingman is very, very unheralded, but VERY, VERY good
Davonte Daniel (Waterford Mott)-PURE HEART and DESIRE anchor this Sir Grind-a-lot's game

Dylan Bowman (Hazel Park)
– Major reason why the Vikings are finishing the season STRONG AS EVER
Brandon Yousif (Birmingham Seaholm) – For Maple hoop fans, this SUPER SOPH is the FUTURE
De Andre Jackson (MH Bishop Foley) – Another super soph that is showing signs of future greatness
Royaire Churchill (Pontiac) – Very pleasant surprise for the Yactown Purple People Eaters. His heady play on both ends of the floor has helped fill the void after the transfer of all-conference stud Juwaan Moody (moved to AZ w/family)
WARNING=DIAPER DANDY ALERT!!!!!!
D.J. Stevens (AH Oakland Christian) – Quickly emerging as one of the area's top freshman phenoms
Armand Cartwright (BH Lahser) – Quickly emerging as one of the STATE's top freshman phenoms
Jared Wangler (RO Shrine) – This sharpshooting youngster is only a ninth-grader but I'd put his stroke from downtown up against the best Oakland County has to offer…Superb genes too!
