Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Earlier in the week, I posted by Top 12 prep football players for the Class of 2013.
Here is a list of some other rock solid gridiron studs from the upcoming senior class to keep an eye out for next fall:
Brandon Bean (Southfield WR) – This sly, sure-handed wideout runs perfect routes, has a GRADE-A work ethic and football pedigree and might wind up playing in the Big 10 before its all said and done on his recruiting
Sergio Perkovic (Birmingham Brother Rice DL) – The Warriors pass rush specialist will be a mighty tough blocking assignment come autumn……My man Perk is a force of nature on the line and will probably be the only Rice grid stud to start both ways next year
Josh Jones (WL Western CB/KR/PR) – Burney's boy JJ is a lockdown corner on 'D' and a shifty speed demon on the return game
Chaz Miller (Lake Orion WR) – Tall, strong and fast wide receiver that is a menace in the Red Zone
Eddie Huckabee (FH Harrison LB/RB) – What a super motor this kid has!!! Huck is a heck of a talent on both sides of the ball!!!....Can you say PURE PLAYMAKER!!
Brandon Malinowksi (Novi Detroit CC LB) – Another workhorse defensive gem from SHAMROCKNATION
Ben Hart-Andrew McBride (RH Adams WR/CB/K&PR) – With Mr. Do Everything Tony Annese graduating, this terrorizing tandem of Highlander triple threats will be showing their stuff all over the field this fall
Jordan Degreffenreed-Connor Mohr (Farmington RB) – Might be the best Thunder and Lightning backfield duo in the OAA
Nate Drews (RH Lutheran NW QB) – No question in Burney's mind, ND will be the top small school quarterback in the area in 2012
Eric Stubbs (AH Avondale WR/DB) – I look at Stubbs as Ray Tillman after his junior year, having shown glimpses of brilliance in the open field and ready to explode as a senior
