Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Power Play - OAA Blue

Burney's Football Player Power RankingsOAA Blue
1 Clark Clancy (AH Avondale) – This Bowling Green commit is the best lineman and overall player in the Blue….STRAIGHT UP MENACE to deal with, to say the least!!!
2 Michael Johnson (AH Avondale) – The league's best running back, most explosive offensive player
3 Nate Emery (BH Lahser) – Will challenge Johnson for title of most electrifying offensive talent in the league as only a sophomore, not to mention also being a lockdown corner on defense and terror in the return game
4 Eric Hudson (Berkley) – Dynamic playmaker who will line-up all over the field for the Bears this fall
5 Shaquan McGriff (Ferndale) – Will be the Eagles top player on both sides of the ball
6 Andrew Gikas (BH Lahser) – The heart and soul of the Knights in the trenches, force of nature kind of player who is a superior leader
7 Chris Hill (Birmingham Seaholm) – Sleeper superstar-in-the-making at linebacker for the Maples
8 Spencer McCourt (BH Lahser) – The definition of steady and smart under center, this junior quarterback going into his second year calling signals for TEAM LORIA will be the Blue's most dangerous field general
9 Eric Stubbs (AH Avondale) – Has all the right moves at wide receiver and in the secondary
10 (tie) Zach Tornow (BH Lahser) – One of the best possession receivers in the entire OAA
10 (tie) Khalil Gracey (BH Lahser) – This long and athletic junior hoops star might be a Division I recruit on the gridiron before it's all said and done on the 2012 campaign. Due to some recent bangs and bruises, he'll be on the shelf until most likely Week 5
10 (tie) Jacob Snead (Birmingham Groves) – Undervalued prospect who will hurt teams in the slot on offense and as a defensive back on defense and helped the Falcons vanquish a seven-year playoff absence last year
