Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Not Getting His Due

I was out at the Palace today covering the BCAM All-STAR Basketball festival and all I could think to myself was:

The fact that no state college hoop programs got in on recruiting Corey Green is a travesty. Green, Madison Heights Bishop Foley's explosive departing swingman, is headed down south to play his college ball at North Georgia State, but he should be staying home.

This kid is a STRAIGHT UP freak of nature on the hardwood, whose only scratched the surface on his MASSIVE potential talent. He's got the kind of athleticsm and court instinct you simply can't teach. And he was flat out ignored. What a shame!

If you think this 6-5 workhorse couldn't help out a local program, and help out in a MAJOR WAY, you're crazy, flat-out wrong and don't know the game of basketball.

Last winter, he was named all-state, while averaging a robust 24 points and 14 rebounds per gam while taking Bishop Foley to both league and district titles.

Under the bright lights of the Palace floor today, Green showed all the haters what they will be missing these next four years by dropping 25 points, 13 boards and three SICK SLAM DUNKS, taking away MVP honors while he was at it.

He will be missed!
