Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

A few thoughts on defending Class D state champion Southfield Christian's MEGA UPSET of Class A Catholic League superpower Orchard Lake St. Mary's on the road Thursday night.
Sophomore Bakari Evelyn is a STRAIGHT MENACE TO SOCIETY on the hardwood.
Can you say COLDBLOODED? His 37-point performance – game-tying 30-foot 3 at the buzzer to send it into OT and game-winning lay-up in OT – was one of the best single-game performances I've ever seen from an underclassman…..That's a FACT!!!
Fab FROSH Marlo Brown is THE REAL DEAL. A 6-foot-4 lefty, he's silky smooth on the perimeter and has the composure, moxie and big-game mentality of a player much older. Better than Evelyn was last year…..and that's saying A LOT!!!
Sophomore Kameron "Kam I AM' Garner will be the Eagles X-Factor this season…..a complimentary player that will hurt teams in a variety of ways if they spend too much time worrying about "B-EASY" Evelyn, Marlow and LH4. Played great vs. OLSM.
Thursday's victory was as big a 'program win' I've seen in my time watching prep sports in this area…..YEAH, I SAID IT!!!!
