Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Help has arrived.
After getting throttled last year in the annual state's East-West All-Star Game, the East squad has named a new coach.
He's quite familiar to high school football fans from the area;
Walled Lake Western's Mike Zdebski.
One of the state's most innovative and emotionally-inspiring tacticians, Zdebski is the right choice for the job.
I have no doubt Coach Z is going to get things turned around for the Eastsiders.
Zdebski, who heads the KLAA powerhouse Warriors, won a state championship in 1999 and last year made a run into the final four.
First on Zdebski to-do list – Getting all of Metro Detroit's D1 signees that are eligible to participate in pads come summer time. Last year's whipping at the hands of the Westsiders was partially a result of the East team missing numerous high-level college recruits.
Good luck, Coach Z!!!!
