Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Thursday saw a POWER SURGE on the area's prep baseball and softball diamond
Round-tripper ROLL CALL:
Harry Singer (BH Andovr) – Clocked a BIG PAPI-esque three homers over the course of a DH with AH Avondale
Nick Bredeson (BH Andover) – Blasted a GRAND SLAM in first-game 'W' over Avondale in OAA Blue twin bill
Kyle Valden (Milford) – Went yard in Mavs 6-5 takedown of Grand Blanc
Brent Smiles (Holly) – Crushed a home run in TEAM HORSE's 13-1 trouncing of Pontiac NDP in a non-league affair
Mark Ruhle (RO Shrine) – Ruhle's MOON LAUNCH helped spur the Knights to a 12-2 smashing of MC Cardinal Mooney
Jamie Johnson (BH Cranbrook-Kingswood) – Tatooed a pair of HRs into oblivion for the Cranes, including a GRAND SLAM in her team's lopsided lashing of WB FRankel Jewish Academy
Becca Neal (Waterford Kettering) – Neal clubbed a 3-run JACK in the Captains 5-1 win over WL Central in the opener of a KLAA doubleheader
Lauren Brouillard (Lakeland) – Muscled one over the fence to go along with a trifecta of RBI in leading the Eagles offense in the squad's 10-2 overpowering of WL North
