Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

A New Breed

There will be some new faces in the Oak Park athletic department for the upcoming school year, both on the football field and the basketball court.
Here's a quick look at the Knights NEW BREED
Football
Chance Savage – Fleet-footed juke-master of a transfer from UofD-Jesuit & the Catholic League who will be the Knights starting running back this fall…..has playmaker  written all over him
Jordan Leonard – Smart and steady signal-caller who comes over to the Knights Grid Kingdom from Southfield, where he was a back-up last year. If the '13 season started today Leonard would be opening the campaign under center for TEAM CARTER
Basketball
Kelvon Fuller – FREAKISH athletic talent in the post and on the fastbreak. this 6-foot-7 powerhouse forward arrives in THE OP from Detroit Cody and is already getting serious looks by DI college program's as only a 15-year old.
Orlando Fikes – This senior-to-be is slick and quick at the point guard spot, joining Fuller as a transplant from Cody and the PSL
