Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Last Train To Clarkston

Michigan State-commit Nate Morris will make a quick pit-stop prior to landing on the diamond in East Lansing.
Morris, a lanky fire-balling lefty hurler, has transferred from Oxford to Clarkston for his senior year of high school. He committed to the Spartans last fall.
This is a big snag for the Wolfpack baseball program and he'll no doubt assume ace duties for C-Town next spring in his final season on the mound as a prepster.
Composed and smart on the bump, Morris can blow opposing batters away with his velocity or catch them off guard with his nasty breaking stuff and pin-point accuracy.
There are three OC diamond studs from the area's Class of 2014 committed to Michigan State. Besides Morris, the Spartans have already sewn up pledges from Walled Lake Western pitcher Andrew Gonzales and Orchard Lake St. Mary's catcher Will Salter.
