Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

A Pigskin Monarchy

The OC family with possibly the best names ever, the Monarch boys, Stone and Chance, are purring and prowling and will be repping the area with pride on the DI college gridiron this fall, kicking butt and taking names.
Big bro, Stone, is a long-snapper at the University of Toledo. He prepped at pigskin-juggernaut Novi Detroit CC, winning a state-title ring with the Shamrocks in 2009 and is going to be a redshirt sophomore at Toledo in 2013.
Little bro, Chance, is a safety at Eastern Michigan, about to open his freshman year later this month. As a senior at West Bloomfield last year, Chance was the county's leading-tackler, posting 135 wrap-ups, 30 of those going for lost yardage.
Papa Monarch is a plum too, just a class act is every way.
Burney's excited to see these two grid superstuds' college careers play out.
What's in a name, you ask? Well, with the Monarch clan it's baller-certified and always-ready for war!!
