Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Flashing Forward

The answer to all OL St. Mary's troubles on the gridiron could be Daelin Hayes.
Hayes, a freakishly athletic 6-foot-2 225-pound specimen of a football player, will most likely be the Eaglets' starter at tailback and linebacker next fall, as St. Mary's tries to rebound from a rare playoff absence.
He passes the eye test with flying colors, despite his lack of experience on the field; this past season during his sophomore campaign he played little due to some minor injuries. When you look at him, you see greatness. He's a total package (size, speed, strength, etc) on paper and has the potential to ERUPT in 2014..... I sense by the time next fall comes around, you'll see that potential blossoming into full-fledged STARDOM for TEAM PORRITT's BIG RED MACHINE
The University of Michigan and Michigan State are both recruiting him. The bar is obviously pretty high, but Burney foresees Hayes leapfrogging said bar like an Olympic-champion pole-vaulter ...NEXT STOP: DOMINATION?
