Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Burney hopes to see OC BENCH BARON Robert Rogers back on the sidelines soon.
Rogers, the head boys bball coach at Pontiac and before that Pontiac Northern and Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook, has been on leave the whole winter.
The reasons for the leave are not completely clear. Regardless, Rogers is one of the true gentlemen of the profession and an excellent teacher of the game.
He’s the only coach in OC hoops history to ever win repeat Class A state crowns at Pontiac Northern in 2001 and 2002.
Pontiac has missed his leadership and guidance greatly this season. The Phoenix have struggled to compete in the OAA Red, a league they once not so long ago held superpower status in.
Rogers told Burney that he is gearing for a return next year.
Here’s to hoping that intention becomes a reality.
Come on back, Rog, we miss ya!
