Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Training Camp Report - Clarkston

The boys cage contingent at Clarkston is in search of its ninth consecutive OAA Red crown. Yeah, you read that correctly...Can you say consistency?
Don't expect any slippage in '15. TEAM FIFE is darn good again…..maybe even great.
Alright let's Roll Call it Wolfpack-Style:
Drew Myers – The nickname is "Steady Rock D" for a reason, bulldog in the backcourt
Foster Loyer – MEGA-IMPACT fab frosh who might go down as C-Town 's best floor general ever when it's all said & done on this TRU PLAYA 4 REAL's prep career
Tabin Throgmorton – Terror on the wing and one of the top junior forwards in the area
Jonah Newblatt – Bruiser on the block, maybe the best pick-setter in the OC, the all-guts-no-glory type that every championship team needs
Cole Chewins – Expect a breakout in the middle from my main man CC this winter, 6-foot-7 Miami (OH) football-recruit with all the tools on both the gridiron and the hardwood
Merrick Canada – Quiet assassin in the backcourt, the ultimate 'glue guy' who can hit you up for double-digits on any given night
Dayton Wallis – Dogged swingman with SIR-GRIND-A-LOT written all over his skill-set, don't leave him open, he'll make you pay, always pesky on 'D'
Josh Bonzeim – Scrapper in the backcourt who can shoot it, defend and find the open man
Will Scarlett – Another gritty banger in the frontcourt
