Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Destiny 's Child

Destiny Pitts is PRICELESS. The Birmingham DCD girls basketball star just smiled when faced with the biggest game of her career so far on Friday night in the Class B state semifinals. With a giant grin the entire way, Pitts pumped in a simply scintillating double-double of 28 points and 10 boards, swishing six triples and all-out dominating a demolition of Goodrich. The love she showed for the game of basketball was evident. Why else do it? You're supposed to compete at whatever sport you choose because you love it, because it's more than just a game. Pitts is a diaper dandy like few I've seen on the girls HS hardwood. Every time she steps foot on the floor you can tell she's laying it all on the line and having the time of her life. And that's PRICELESS!!
