Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Five For Fighting - They Owned The Night

Five For Fighting – Most impressive outings on the boys prep hardwood from Friday night;
1 James Young (Troy) – Plain and simple; "The Chosen One" went all CHOSEN ONE………….once again showing why he's one of the best players in the entire country by torching RH Adams for 36 points, 12 boards and seven dimes in a MAJOR LEAGUE 63-47 Troy victory……..MAD PROPS to TEAM FRALICK for showing ironclad resolve in the midst of a rough couples of weeks and keeping up their winning ways in a pair of lopsided triumphs.
2 Dorrell Foster (North Farmington) – What a gamer this kid is? D-Fizzle is STRAIGHT NASTY on the court. On Friday, he busted up Southfield-Lathrup for 30 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots in leading RAIDERSNATION to 60-57 come from behind win on the road
3 Max Aleshire (MH Bishop Foley) – Broke out of a minor shooting slump by doing his best ZACK NOVAK impression & canning 5 trifectas in the first quarter of the game before finishing with 30 points (7-11 from downtown) in another Ventures blowout 'W'
4 Paris Pereira (Rochester) – Continues to show why he's one of the top floor generals in the STATE – YEAH, I SAID IT – by dropping a 30-point, 7-dime performance in the Falcons drubbing of Seaholm
5 Davonte Daniel (Waterford Mott) – My main man D DOUBLE could easily be the most underrated SUPERSTAR in the OC……he's mean, lean, long, agile, athletic and absolutely abused crosstown rival Kettering for another in a long line of WHAT ELSE? – Double-doubles putting up 22 points and 12 rebounds
