Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

True Blue Forever

Following in the footsteps of his two older brothers, Birmingham Brother Rice three-sport star Jason Alessi has decided to become a Wolverine.
Alessi, a standout on the Warriors' football, basketball and lacrosse teams verbally committed to the University of Michigan earlier this week for LAX.
Matt Alessi and Joey Alessi, Jason's elder siblings, are both currently enrolled at UofM, where Matt is on the Wolverines golf team.
Joey was a hoops stud in his time at Rice, leading the Warriors to back-to-back Class A district titles as a junior and senior in 2010 and 2011.
Jason, an incoming junior, is a LIGHTS OUT talent in every sport he competes in.
On the football field, he is the starting placekicker and free safety on the school's defending state championship gridiron squad. During the winter on the hardwood, he's an all-league shooting guard on the Warriors basketball team.
Then, there's he best sport, lacrosse, where he's helped guide Rice to state championships the past two springs.

Want to know what the best thing about my boy Lil' Aless is? We've got two full more years to watch him show his stuff before he heads off to Ann Arbor!!
