Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

How about we start looking ahead?
Five For Fighting – Top Returning Prep Quarterbacks for the 2012 Season

2 Kyle Bambach (Walled Lake Western) – Entering his junior year and second season under center for TEAM Z, this kid is a STRAIGHT PLAYMAKER and might be the best quarterback in all of Oakland County before the 2012 campaign is over…..YEAH, I SAID IT!!!
3 Johnny Williams (Holly) – Most dangerous field general in the Flint Metro!!!! 'NUFF SAID!!!
4 Cheyne Lacanaria (Birmingham Brother Rice) – After playing game-manager as a junior last year, helping the Warriors to a state crown, expect a breakout season tossing the pigskin for 'The Polynesian Pistol' and the whole Orange-and-Black offense
5 (tie) Jody Harrison (Pontiac) – Second-year starter who will be a picture of cool, calm and collected calling signals for the Purple People Eaters!!!
5 (tie) Nate Drews (Rochester Hills Lutheran NW) – No. 1 small-school quarterback in the area!!!......(w/RO Shrine's Connor Francek coming in a close second)
