Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Oakland County's Class of 2014 on the baseball diamond has a dazzling set of top-rate pitchers, sure to keep opposing hitters on their toes for the next two years.
Here are the FIVE best;
1 Matt Ruppenthal (Birmingham Brother Rice)
Best pitcher in the state regardless of Class, committed to Vanderbilt since before his sophomore season
2 Brad Schaenzer (Lake Orion)
Dominant lefty that has an array of big-time D1 programs in hot pursuit of his talent
3 Andrew Gonzales (WL Western)
Michigan State-commit that is lights out chucking the pill, sporting a 1.39 ERA last season as a SUPER SOPH
4 Nathan Morris (Oxford)
Michigan State-commit that could be the fastest-improving hurler in the area
5 Garrett Schilling (MH Bishop Foley)
Steady as they come toeing the slab, helped take Bishop Foley to a repeat state title last spring
